Dixie Lynn is on the phone with a friend, explaining that she is making up an illness in order to avoid attending a dull family reunion. Dixie will have the entire house to herself once everyone else goes for the celebration, allowing her to enjoy herself to the fullest. When Dixie hears Rachael Cavalli, her mother, enter the room, she immediately hangs off the phone and resumes playing ill. Rachael informs Dixie that she called family friend and nurse Reagan Foxx to see how Dixie was doing. Dixie tries to persuade Rachael that she doesn't need a nurse when she realises that this could derail her plan, but Rachael is adamant that it is for the best.
