Ryan Keely, a teacher, notices that one of her students, Eliza Ibarra, is depressed. Eliza explains that it is because she is being bullied because she is a nerd.
Ryan's face changes to one of understanding when he hears this. Ryan tells her that, while things aren't going well right now, high school isn't forever. Eliza is 18 years old and will graduate in a few months, so she's almost there! Ryan tries to cheer her up by telling her that SHE was and still is a nerd in high school. They start to bond over their common nerdy interests.
