Chanel Preston is enraged. Scarlet, her daughter, is a straight-A student, but since enrolling in Charlotte Stokely's class, her grades have dropped to a C. Scarlet's teacher, Charlotte, is attentive but not interested in anyone else's nonsense. She informs Chanel that her daughter is gay and that the fact that she is unable to confide in her own mother may be due to her poor academic performance. Chanel Preston becomes enraged and tries to intimidate Charlotte by reminding her that she funds many school activities and has clout in the community.
