Teenager Arietta Adams is upset when she gets home. Her stepmother, Maggie Green, tries to figure out what's wrong. Beginning with a tale about a school lavatory, Arietta claims that she had to momentarily take off her human disguise because it was so itchy. Arietta isn't human, are you sure? Yes, Arietta is an alien who may have unintentionally revealed her true identity to a human in the restroom. Fortunately, Arietta was able to persuade the human that she was simply experiencing stress-related hallucinations. But it almost didn't happen.
Maggie's alien status is also revealed, along with the fact that they are lovers on their home world.
