Gianna Dior welcomes Hazel Grace, a friend who has arrived to spend the night. They're both 19 years old and haven't seen each other in a long time. Katie Morgan, Gianna's stepmother, joins them to greet Hazel, and it's clear that Katie and Hazel have feelings for each other. Gianna becomes agitated and separates them by leading Hazel away to drop off her belongings.
Gianna and Hazel are watching movies together later that night. Katie has joined them. But when Katie begins to move to the centre of the couch to be closer to Hazel, Gianna panics and scrambles to the centre of the couch, almost getting sat on.
